Distinctive Unit Insignia
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a black annulet encircling a white five-pointed star between two inclined and diametric gold cargo hooks above and surmounted in base by the vertical upper point of an eight-pointed gold compass rose, its lower points surmounting two semi-circular concentric wavy blue bands all above a brick red scroll, the ends curving inwards and terminating behind the rings of the cargo hooks, inscribed "ROLL WITH IT" in gold letters.
Brick red and yellow are the colors used for Transportation organizations. The worldwide aspects and basic mission of the organization are symbolized by the compass rose and the annulet or wheel. The blue wavy bands simulating water and the cargo hooks categorize the transfer of cargo from water to land transportation, thus encompassing both the "terminal" and "truck" missions of the unit. The wavy bands further allude to the Pacific and to the service in that area during World War II. The "Roll With It" motto symbolizes the water and land areas of the Battalion and the "Roll-on Roll-off" concept which is the backbone of a Truck Battalion. The white star represents Texas "The Lone Star State," home station of the Battalion.
